A communication event was held on March 29, 2023 at the Nicosia Multipurpose Municipal Center for the promotion and presentation of the Projects financed under the EEA-Norway Financial Mechanisms 2014-2021.

The event was organized by the Directorate General Growth, Ministry of Finance and aimed to present the projects implemented within the framework of the Financial Mechanisms of the European Economic Area (EEA)-Norway for the programming period 2014 – 2021.

Specifically, the "Local Development and Poverty Reduction" Program, which is co-financed by the EEA-Norway Grants (85%) and the Republic of Cyprus (15%) with a total budget of €8.1 million, promotes projects in the sectors of the environment, health, social welfare and culture. The implementation of the projects is expected to be completed at the beginning of 2024 and will contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of citizens in Cyprus.

During the event, the progress of these projects up to date was presented. Present were the beneficiaries of the projects, representatives of the Directorate General Growth, Ministry of Finance, as the Program Manager and National Contact Point, representatives of other government departments, involved in the implementation of the Grants, as well as Ms. Lina Marcinkute, Cyprus’s country officer at the Financial Mechanism Office in Brussels.
